Chris Redman is officially stepping into a new chapter. The United Football League announced on Monday that the former NFL quarterback has been named head coach of the Louisville Kings.
For Redman, this job is more than a coaching title. It is a homecoming.
A Louisville Story From the Start
Redman was born and raised in Louisville, and football has followed him every step of the way. He led Louisville Male High School to a Kentucky state championship in 1993 while playing under his father, Bob Redman. The story already sounds like a sports movie, and it only got better from there.
After high school, Redman stayed local and played college football at Louisville before the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

Redman made it clear that this role carries personal meaning.
“Louisville is home,” Redman said in a team statement. He added that he is eager to build a roster and coaching staff with championship-level experience and bring winning football back to the city.

The United Football League was formed after the merger of the XFL and the USFL. The league will kick off its third season in March.
